Do you like extreme contests? Then the 12th BME International 24 hour Programming Contest, Challenge24 is the right place for You! Here you are allowed to use any kind of tools, books, softwares, and languages to compete successfully, except for external help.
Informatics or artificial intelligence? Algorythm theory, mathematics? You might apply all of these if you want to be the best.
Registration conditions
1. The language of the contest is English. All written contest materials will be in English. Usage of dictionaries is allowed and encouraged.
2. To participate in the contest you must be a member of a registered team. A team consists of three members. Participants may register from any country. You can enter your team through the Team Registration page.
3. Taking part in the contest is free of charge; the only requirement is that every team member has to hand in their Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English. CVs will be handed over to our sponsors for recruiting purposes only. Participating means that you agree with the fact that we hand over your CV to our sponsors.
4. The contest consists of two rounds: electronic contest (EC) is an online qualification round for all registered teams, then 30 selected teams can participate in the finals, the 24 hour on site contest in Budapest.
5. We hold an optional test competition (PreEC) to test our system for the EC. Achievements during the PreEC have no consequences later in the competition. Participation is completely optional, but we encourage teams to familiarize themselves with our submission system and the general atmosphere of the contest.
6. The best teams of the EC are invited to the finals. Teams who achieved 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the finals of the previous year are automatically invited to this year's finals; they do not have to participate in the electronic contest.
7. One member of a team may be replaced before the finals if it turns out to be impossible for him or her to participate in the finals in Budapest.

The Institute for Human Sciences and ERSTE Foundation encourage translators in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Cultural Studies to apply for the prestigious Paul Celan Fellowship.
The program aims to overcome deficits and asymmetries in the exchange of ideas and reception of scholarly literature which result from the division of Europe in the 20th century. Therefore, the Paul Celan Fellowships support Western to Eastern translations, or between two Eastern European languages, and especially Eastern to Western translations of canonical texts and contemporary key works in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Special emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authors and/or by female gendered scholars.
A thematic relation to one of the IWM’s research fields is likewise welcomed.

Scholarships for graduates from Central-, Eastern- and Southeastern Europe
The Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Art will sponsor scholarships for the academic year 2012/13. Graduates from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine are eligible to apply. The scholarships are meant to finance doctoral or postgraduate studies at Bavarian universities.
One year scholarships can be extended twice for up to 3 years. The scholarship is paid out monthly (700 €) and amounts to 8400 € per year. Students with children or an unemployed partner and at least one child receive 860 € per month, which amounts to 10320 € per year.
Candidates should send their documents to the address specified in the application forms.
As an applicant for a one year scholarship by the Free State of Bavaria you need to:
• have the nationality of one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia or the Ukraine.
• be living full-time in your home country at the time of application.
• be no older than 30 in the first year of your scholarship (i.e. on the 1.10.2012).
• be needy, meaning that you are not able to finance your studies at a Bavarian university yourself, nor through the funds of a third party (for example through a scholarship from another institution).
• provide evidence of your German language skills, which should be at a level that you can master seminars and accordingly academic papers in German without difficulty. Note: when researching at an institute, where the working language is English, it is sufficient to send evidence of your English language skills. In addition, your supervisor at the Bavarian university has to confirm that your English language skills are sufficient for the planned research project. The same goes for study programs conducted in English.
• be able to give evidence at the time of application that you have achieved/ or will achieve a distinctively above-average university degree.
• be matriculated in a Master- or PhD-program at a Bavarian University of your choice during the period of your granted scholarship.
